[San Jose, CA] Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) is excited to announce that it will be participating in Silicon Valley Gives (SV Gives) 2016, a 24-hour online fundraising effort, hosted by Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) with the help of sponsors. During the most recent SV Gives event, held May 5, 2015, more than 17,000 individual donors contributed $7.8 million to local charities. More than 850 nonprofits (including AACI) based in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Benito and San Francisco counties participated.
This year, SV Gives will take place on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 and will raise money for local nonprofits, through a single online donation platform, Razoo. This will provide a simple way to connect donors to charitable causes such as AACI and encourage them to take action. Donors will be able to contribute to their favorite charities with donations starting at just $10. SVCF also partners with funders to create matching gifts and prizes for the participating nonprofit groups. These incentives encourage community members to give during what can be a challenging fundraising period for nonprofit organizations.
Last year, AACI raised $52,237 thanks to SV Gives. This funding contributed to a broad base of AACI Services, including helping renovating its domestic violence shelter and providing access to primary care services for clients who could not afford services.
Donors, but also staff members from AACI made donations. “AACI Asian Women’s Home holds a very special place in my heart and I gave back knowing that the money I’m putting forth will go towards program services and values. While my role in development pushes me to help others see the importance in giving to a community organization like AACI, I feel my personal role is to give what I can because others are not as lucky as I am. Many are struggling to keep food on the table or find a safe place to live. In whatever small or large increments I, as a community member, can give to causes that hold dear and true to my values, I will do my part to contribute. Every little bit counts.” said Andra Chao, Staff Member in AACI’s Asian Women’s Home.
This year will mark the third time that AACI is participating in SV Gives. “AACI is excited to participate in SV Gives again,” said Michele Lew, AACI’s President and CEO. “SV Gives provides an easy way for us to reach a broad base of potential donors, as well as reconnect with our returning donors.”
