AACI Hosts Free Back-to-School Summer Health Fair to Support Local Families

AACI Brings Together Health Services, Community Resources, and Cultural Celebration for Santa Clara County Families

 

San Jose, CA — Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) is proud to announce a bold new direction in community engagement. Instead of our traditional Better Together Gala, we’re launching something even more mission-driven: AACI’s Back-to-School Summer Health Fair. This free, family-friendly event is designed to support underserved youth and families as they prepare for the new school year. It will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 2400 Moorpark Ave. San Jose, CA 95128.

 

This year’s event will be hosted by Cinthia Pimentel, the bilingual, award-winning weather anchor for NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48, bringing her vibrant energy and community spirit to the stage.

 

This new event is all about direct impact, providing free, family-friendly access to essential health and wellness services for 300 local kids and their families. 

 

“This health fair is a reflection of our mission in action—building a healthier, more connected community, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to start the school year healthy, confident and ready to thrive.” said Sarita Kohli, President and CEO of AACI.

 

AACI is deep committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for all community members, especially during a time when so many families are facing growing challenges. AACI is investing directly in the community by removing barriers to care and creating a welcoming space for connection, celebration, and support.

 

Honoring Community Leaders

AACI is proud to recognize two outstanding honorees at this year’s event:

• Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens, recipient of the Gordon N. Chan Leadership Award, for his unwavering advocacy and leadership in advancing equity and access for underserved communities.
• Amigos de Guadalupe, recipient of the Community Champion Award, for their tireless work uplifting immigrant and low-income families in Santa Clara County.

 

Event Highlights Include:

• • Free Health & Dental Services:
    Sports physicals, dental screenings, fluoride varnish, diabetes and blood pressure screenings
  • Free Giveaways:
    Backpacks, school supplies, raffle prizes, and free tacos for the first 100 attendees
  • Family Fun:
    Face painting, youth crafts, music, food trucks, and cultural performances

• Community Resources:
  20+ local service providers offering health, wellness, and educational support including partners like: Asian Law Alliance (ALA), The Tech Interactive, Sewa USA, Regional Pacific Islander Task Force (RPITF), Vietnamese Voluntary Foundation (VIVO), Older Adult Technology Services (OATS) by AARP, Alzheimer’s Association, San Jose Barracudas, Fly Program, Community Health Partnership (CHP), Department of Public Health and more.

 

Cultural Performances to Celebrate Community Diversity

• Viet Steps, a Vietnamese youth dance group
• Team-M Taekwondo, an internationally acclaimed youth demonstration team
• Grito de la Cultura Dance Academy, a youth folklórico group led by Elena Robles
