Department: Behavioral Health, Family and Children Program

Reports to: Family and Children Program Manager 

Job Location: Moorpark Avenue, San Jose

Work Hours: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) which was founded in 1973 has an amazing opportunity for the above position in the non-profit sector. AACI’s mission is to improve the health, mental health, and well-being of individuals, families and the Asian community. We do this by providing an array of high quality health and human services, sharing expertise about the Asian community’s needs and best services delivery practices, and providing Asian leadership in advocating on key health and human services issues. AACI has over 170 employees and an annual budget of over $16M.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing peer support to family members of youth enrolled in any of AACI’s Family and Children program. The Family Partner must have  personal experience raising a child who has received either mental health services or human services.

The family partner is responsible for engaging families in services and utilizing personal and professional life experience to provide peer support to parents and caregivers as appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide parents and/or caregivers with information about the agency, processes and procedures and internal resources.
  • Collaborate and participate in treatment team meetings to ensure that parents and/or caregivers have a voice in the process.
  • Explore, identify and help family with community connections and resources.
  • Conduct Outreach to the community.
  • Provide non-judgmental, unconditional support to children and families served through AACI Family and Children Services program.
  • Submit incident reports or other necessary documentation in a timely and completed manner.
  • Participates in program and system meetings.
  • Maintain monthly productivity of 55% of total time worked or as based on program needs.

Other duties as assigned.


  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and able to work evenings and weekends.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Own a vehicle, California Driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Parent or caregiver of a child who has received mental health or human services within the past 3 years.
  • Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish or Vietnamese. 
  • Knowledge of Juvenile Probation Department, Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children Services, Family Advocate and other involved agencies.
