AACI Seniors Advocate at Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors Meeting

October 8, 2012

On August 15, 2012, older adults from the AACI Senior Wellness Program provided their testimony at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting. Among other senior service providers, an AACI participant spoke out about the importance of the Senior Nutrition Program and the benefits of having access to affordable nutritious meals. She shared that without these nutritious lunches, she would probably have not met as many friends and be able to participate in other activities, such as English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, health and fraud education workshops, and physical exercise classes.

The following is the testimonial from one of AACI’s Senior Wellness Program participants who spoke at the meeting:

“Dear ladies and gentlemen:

I’d like to express my appreciation to the authority who has been supporting the Senior Nutrition Lunch program. I will be 90 years old next month. I have attended AACI’s Senior Nutrition Lunch program for years. I enjoy the lunches very much. It gives us not only nutrition but also the love and concern from the authorities. I always eat my lunch with a grateful heart and hope that I stay in good health. Without the nutrition lunches, I’ll not be able to prepare the meals as good as that by myself. I may only eat a bowl of instant noodle without any vegetables and meat. I will not be as happy as I am now. I want to thanks the authorities for offering us the wonderful Senior Nutrition Lunch program. It is very very important to us. I hope it will continue. Thanks!”
