AACI Staff Member Celebrates 30th Anniversary
July 27, 2012
For the last 30 years, Siath Hen has worked as a mental health counselor at AACI, serving as a community leader who has helped develop a voice for the Cambodian population in the region while providing culturally competent services.
On June 22, AACI celebrated Siath and his three decades of dedication and service to the community with a recognition luncheon attended by AACI staff and community members. Siath, a refugee from Cambodia, persevered through adversity which led him to dedicate his career to helping others. He has been a key leader guiding and reaching out to the Cambodian community. Siath’s determination and persistence to ensure justice and service for individuals in the Cambodian community has inspired many in the community. The luncheon at AACI included delicious Cambodian food and a performance by a local Cambodian dance group who honored Siath for his contributions with a traditional Blessing Dance.
Several local elected officials attended the luncheon to celebrate Siath and to provide proclamations and personal stories about the impact that Siath has had in the community. Congressman Mike Honda, Senator Leland Yee, Assemblymembers Paul Fong and Jim Beall, and San Jose City Councilmember Kansen Chu were present and recognized Siath for his commitment and leadership.
AACI is proud to celebrate and honor Siath.
